Description
Yoko Ritona - Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann - Motojacket Timeskip Version.
Costume made by me
Photography by
Convention Appearance: Animazement 2012
After I made pre-timeskip and S.t.a.r.S Yoko, I found I really enjoyed being Yoko and the costume became a huge boost to my self-esteem. I had always wanted to make Yoko's motojacket from post-timeskip, and originally I convinced myself that pre-timeskip would be easier, intending to build on the first costume to make this one.
I ended up only keeping the shorts, belt, glasses, and base boots. My wig was ruined and temporarily lost, so I replaced it and I'm much happier with the color and styling of this version. The ponytail was enhanced with different color wefts to add dimension and I really love it, even though it's extremely heavy and difficult to wear. I remade the top to be more consistent material-wise and give me more support, and it turned out better the second time around. I used the same boots and added very fitted vinyl boot covers to make them look like thigh-highs.
The jacket is marine vinyl with vinyl appliques and black polyester lining. It's the one piece that really makes this version of Yoko's outfit what it is, and it was an adequate challenge and I'm extremely proud of the results.
